The Takohiki or takohiki originates from the Kanto (Tokyo) area, and the name means “cut octopus.” Unlike a yanagiba, it has no point and it is also thinner. Also used for sschi, the Takohiki is a precision blade and this reduces needless movements.
The blade is made from VG-10, superior Japanese stainless steel from Takefu. It is extra hard, which ensures the edge remains sharper longer. The alloy is highly resistant to wear and warping, as well as to oxidation. The finishing of the blade is perfect and the edges have been polished with minute care.
The handle is made from magnolia wood with a ferrule of real buffalo horn. It has been given an octagonal shape to provide a good grip. The blade is “cemented” to the handle so that it is perfectly fixed in place and humidity is prevented from infiltrating.

IMPORTANT
This 90/10 bevelled blade is appropriate for right-handed use only.

*Weight : 139g / 4.90oz
