Third generation blacksmith Tsukasa Hinoura has his smithy in Sanjo, Niigata. He has become an uncontested master in his field, acknowledged and respected by his peers.
His enthusiasm and experience find full expression in his Unryu-Mon series, which are torsional Damascus kitae-ji blades, and his Ryusuihi-Mon series, torsional Damascus kuro-uchi blades.
They are probably the most beautiful hand-made knives today.
His mastery of the steel is perfect, and his technique is unique in the world: the layer of Damascus steel flows and turns around the blade, even on its back.
The core is shirogami 2 by Hitachi, taken to the limit of its capacities.
The care put into working the steel and the hand hammering make the blade harder and very resistant.
The finishing is impressive, the sides are perfectly polished, and the carefully hand-sharpened edge is fearsome.
These knives are quite simply incredibly beautiful and efficient!
